Closing the Living Income Gap in Cameroon with Biochar

How can smallholder farmers in Cameroon achieve a living income? At the 38th International Bremen Cotton Conference, the project Sustainable Cotton – Innovations for Strengthening Climate Resilience, implemented under the Fund for the Promotion of Innovation in Agriculture (i4Ag), demonstrated how biochar can serve as a scalable solution to boost incomes whilst simultaneously enhancing climate resilience.

Enabling framework conditions for EU due diligence: FIT for FAIR brings stakeholders together in Thailand

Where does Thailand stand in creating enabling framework conditions for relevant stakeholders to comply with European due diligence legislation – and where do gaps remain? With this guiding question, representatives from government, the private sector, academia and civil society came together in Bangkok as part of FIT for FAIR. The focus was on traceability, deforestation and human rights in the rubber, timber and palm oil sectors, as well as a joint analysis of the status quo and existing needs for action.

Strategic Dialogue Between Key Actors in the Honduran Coffee Sector

GIZ coordinated a Stakeholder Workshop in Honduras on March 6th, 2026, as part of the German Retailers’ Working Group on Living Income in the Coffee Sector. The workshop brought together various stakeholders and actors relevant to the coffee sector, fostering exchange and dialogue on living income in the coffee sector.

Organic products are booming in Europe. This presents new opportunities for sustainable products from Brazil. A delegation accompanied by SASI has visited the BioFach fair in Nuremberg to explore market opportunities, certification schemes and new partnerships.

Field Visit of APROCOMSA: Dialogue and Learning on Living Incomes in Coffee

Representatives of the German Retailers Working Group, the German Embassy, and GIZ visited the farm La Colmena together with producers and the APROCOMSA team. During the visit, they learned about production practices, coffee quality, and experiences, offering insights into the WG’s objective of living incomes for coffee-growing families.

From Brazil to Berlin: The Stories Behind Sustainable Sneakers

Who are the people behind the materials in the sneakers that you wear every day, what impact does sustainable rubber and cotton production have on people and nature. In Berlin at the flagship store of French shoe brand VEJA these questions were answered by an evening filled with personal stories on sustainability and the importance of partnerships. At its heart were the experiences of the people behind the joint projects between VEJA and SASI: The cotton farmers, rubber tappers and cooperatives from Brazil.

Turning the Tide: Ghana Strengthens Global Efforts to End Child Labour

The Sustainable Cocoa Program participated in the 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labor in Marrakesh, Morocco, and presented approaches to combating child labor in the cocoa sector. With the Marrakesh Framework Plan, the conference provided new impetus for the global fight against child labor until 2030.

Navigating Deforestation-Free Value Chains: FIT for FAIR launches in Cambodia

With broad participation from government, the private sector and civil society, FIT for FAIR was officially launched in Cambodia. The workshop provided practical insights into the requirements of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), while strengthening dialogue on deforestation-free value chains and corporate due diligence.
