SASI Lunchbreak on supply chain due diligence act part 4
Gender-responsive approaches in agricultural supply chains
Dear friends of the Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains Initiative (SASI),
We hereby invite you to the 4th SASI Lunchbreak on March 7th, 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00 CET.
In this fourth event of our SASI Lunchbreak series, we will focus on strengthening gender-responsive approaches in agricultural supply chains.
Gender equality is essential for sustainable development, especially in agriculture, where women play a central role but are often disadvantaged. Equal access to resources, education, and decision-making processes not only strengthens food production and security but also promotes social justice and economic growth.
This is why collaboration is crucial - governments, NGOs, and the private sector must work together to share knowledge and develop inclusive strategies. Recognizing this, the GIZ-implemented global programme Sustainability and Value Added in Agricultural Supply Chains (Agrichains), as part of SASI, has been working with women along agricultural supply chains in India and beyond for several years. In its recently released booklet, "Building Bridges: Collaborative Insights to Strengthen Gender Approaches in Developmental Work," it shares key strategies and experiences to promote gender equality in the agricultural sector.
We are pleased to welcome the global membership organization Ethical Tea Partnership and the company McLeod Russel. In collaboration with GIZ in India and as part of the Plantation Community Empowerment Programme (PCEP), the Ethical Tea Partnership implements several gender-responsive approaches in India’s tea sector, with a focus on worker inclusion in decision-making, establishing fair business practices, and supporting sustainability in the sector.
The day before International Women’s Day, this 4th SASI Lunchbreak will demonstrate that by working together, we can foster a more inclusive and equitable future for all.

In our series of events, we will show that implementing due diligence is feasible for everyone. With our expertise, we want to actively support you in the implementation. On the one hand, we will present various practice-oriented tools and guidelines with a focus on the agricultural and food sector. On the other hand, we keep an eye on ongoing EU legislative processes and international discussions for you. It is also indispensable to take the perspective of the people and companies in the partner countries. We want to include them through our cooperation on the ground. The SASI Lunchbreak is a regular format offered online as a digital event on the first Friday of each month.
