"From Field to Fanshop" among the finalists for the SPOBIS Award for Sustainability in Sport 2024
On January 31, 2024, keep your fingers crossed for the SPOBIS Award for Sustainability in Sport 2024. We are delighted that "From Field to Fanshop" has been nominated together with other innovative projects and has now also been named a finalist.
The SPOBIS Conference, short for Home of Sports Business, is the most important European B2B event in the sports business. Every year, it brings together decision-makers and experts, athletes, agencies, brands, media and specialists from the world of sport. With the Award for Sustainability in Sport, the company, together with the German Football League (DFL) and Hypo Vereinsbank, wants to signal that German professional sport also takes its responsibility for issues such as climate change and social inequality seriously and wants to help improve the situation.
In November 2023, we applied for the Award in the Club & Association category with "From Field to Fanshop". An external, independent jury will now decide on the finalists and winners of the Award for Sustainability in Sport. The award ceremony will take place on January 31, 2024, at the SPOBIS Conference 2024 in Hamburg.
With the aim of bringing more sustainably produced merchandise into the fan stores of German football clubs such as HSV, "From Field to Fanshop" embodies the values of the Award. Together with nine football clubs from the German Bundesliga and the sustainable textile company BRANDS Fashion, the initiative has been supporting smallholder families in the Indian state of Gujarat for almost two years. The participating smallholder farmers from a cotton cooperative are converting their cultivation to organic cotton, supported by our purchase guarantees. They are also training in sustainable cultivation practices as well as working with improved seeds. In addition, children and young people from surrounding communities take part in sport courses to learn important life skills and take advantage of educational opportunities.
