Learning & Scaling Digitalization Workstream: Round Two
After the kick off in may, partners from four ongoing due diligence projects came together to explore how their digitalization initiatives can create lasting impact beyond individual project lifecycles. Facilitated together with DIASCA colleagues, the session focused on a simple but ambitious goal: learning from one another and identifying opportunities to scale successful approaches.
All four DDF projects work in the coffee value chain, with activities in countries including Peru, Honduras, and Uganda. They work extensively with data, particularly at farm level, and are looking for ways to make that data more useful and ensure farmers benefit. This geographic and thematic overlap among the projects made the exchange and resulting discussion particularly promising. The conversation quickly turned into an open brainstorming session on how these complementary approaches could be connected. One promising idea was the potential development of a shared Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) that could allow multiple projects close to one another contribute data, increase the number of use cases while ensuring farmers retain ownership of their data.
The session achieved its main purpose by bringing together projects with similar themes, methodologies, and regional contexts, deepening participants' understanding of one another's work and laying the groundwork for future collaboration. Over the coming months, the group is eager to continue these conversations with the participating organizations and work towards turning these early ideas into a practical scaling model, with the aim of presenting initial concepts at this year's SASI Stakeholder Meeting.
