Fairtrade Award 2026 for "From Field to Fanshop"

The SASI Project “From Field to Fanshop” was presented with the Fairtrade Award 2026 in the category ‘Project Cooperations'. The award recognises the commitment of BRANDS Fashion, eight German football clubs (Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, FC St. Pauli, 1. FC Union Berlin, HSV, VfB Stuttgart, VfL Wolfsburg, SV Werder Bremen), Fairtrade, local partners and GIZ – acting on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) – to fair and sustainable cotton supply chains.

“With ‘From the Field to the Fan Shop’, we are strengthening fair trade relationships and promoting sustainable value chains in the textile sector,” says Rabea Schafrick, Head of Sustainability at BRANDS Fashion. Silke Peters, Head of the GIZ programme ‘Sustainability and Value Creation in Agricultural Supply Chains’, adds: “This award demonstrates the potential that lies in strong partnerships along global supply chains – from the cotton field to the fan shop.

Since 2022, SASI has been supporting more than 1,650 smallholder farmers with training and seeds to help them switch to environmentally friendly farming methods and achieve more stable incomes. In addition, around 3,000 children and young people are benefiting from sports and educational programmes that help them develop important social skills and improve their future prospects.
