Carbon Offsetting Rice Emissions (CORE)
The CORE activities contributed to significant behavioral changes in smallholders’ rice cultivation. In particular, the adoption of water-saving practices such as Alternative Wetting and Drying (AWD) reduced irrigation water use by approximately 25–57% and lowered GHG emissions by up to 0.59 t CO₂-eq/ha. Gender-focused interventions strengthened women farmers’ confidence and entrepreneurial engagement; overall, women accounted for 69% of all farmers participating in CORE activities.
