SASI Lunchbreak on supply chain due diligence act part 7
Enabling Compliance of Fair Trade Supply Chains
Dear friends of the Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains Initiative (SASI),
We hereby invite you to the 7th SASI Lunchbreak on July 4th, 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00 CET.
In this seventh event of our SASI Lunchbreak series, we will focus on the topic of Enabling Compliance of Fair Trade Supply Chains with new EU Regulation.
In In light of new and upcoming sustainability regulation, such as the European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) or the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) is gaining substantial relevance. These new regulations have considerable effects on actors in global supply chains, especially smallholder farmers. Fair Trade principles and -standards can act as a blueprint to show how global supply chains with high social and environmental requirements can work successfully in practice.
We are pleased to welcome the German Fair Trade organizations Forum Fairer Handel e.V. and Fairtrade Germany e.V., as well as the coffee company Caventura who are jointly collaborating on a project with SASI through GIZ. The project is mainly funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supports smallholder farmers and their European supply chain partners with adjusting to new and upcoming legislation for HREDD. Accompanying this, capacity building activities are offered in the Global South and North, to raise awareness for the importance of effective sustainability regulation.
In the upcoming SASI Lunchbreak you will get an insight in the HREDD Support Fund, the capacity building activities and how businesses and smallholders can benefit from it.

In our series of events, we will show that implementing due diligence is feasible for everyone. With our expertise, we want to actively support you in the implementation. On the one hand, we will present various practice-oriented tools and guidelines with a focus on the agricultural and food sector. On the other hand, we keep an eye on ongoing EU legislative processes and international discussions for you. It is also indispensable to take the perspective of the people and companies in the partner countries. We want to include them through our cooperation on the ground. The SASI Lunchbreak is a regular format offered online as a digital event on the first Friday of each month.
