New INA study assessing the influence of purchasing practices of grocery retailers on producers

Responsible purchasing practices are essential for preventing harm and facilitating both social and environmental improvements in the supply chain. This includes transparent supply chains, long-term contracts and paying a living income/living wage.

In order to support companies with concrete recommendations INA commissioned on behalf of BMZ a study on sustainable and responsible purchasing practices with focus on the banana supply chain in Ecuador and the cocoa supply chain in Ghana. Capturing opinions and perspectives from actors along the entire supply chain, Inclsve and Fair&Sustainable conducted interviews and workshops with producers, suppliers and retailers for the study. One result of the study is a list of recommendations of actions along the supply chain but also changes that have to be undertaken inhouse.
