Field Visit of APROCOMSA: Dialogue and Learning on Living Incomes in Coffee

Representatives of the German Retailers Working Group, the German Embassy, and GIZ visited the farm La Colmena together with producers and the APROCOMSA team. During the visit, they learned about production practices, coffee quality, and experiences, offering insights into the WG’s objective of living incomes for coffee-growing families.

As part of the project "Towards Living Income in the Coffee Sector in Honduras and Peru," representatives of the German Retailers Working Group, the German Embassy, and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) conducted a field visit together with producers and the APROCOMSA team in Marcala, La Paz, Honduras.

During the visit, participants visited installations of the producer organisation APROCOMSA and the farm La Colmena, guided by the APROCOMSA team, where they were able to gain first-hand insight into the work of coffee-growing families and the production practices promoted by the organisation.

The tour also created space for an exchange with producers about challenges and opportunities in the coffee sector. Particular attention was given to the role of women, the participation of young people, and the importance of generational transition for the future of the coffee industry.

This activity is part of the project’s work in Honduras aiming to create spaces for dialogue and learning among different actors in the coffee supply chain. Through these types of exchanges, the project aims to strengthen a shared understanding of the factors that influence the incomes of producer families and to promote actions that contribute to improving their livelihoods.
