Commodity Hub Uzbekistan

Within the framework of the Commodity Hub Uzbekistan, activities at the production level focus on increasing the share of sustainable farming practices. This includes measures to promote biodiversity, improve water management, and reduce the use of pesticides and herbicides. To achieve these goals, the project provides both training on international standards and certifications, as well as technical capacity building on general agricultural practices. The latter includes, for example, the introduction of smart stick technologies and safe and targeted use of crop protection products. In terms of standards and certifications, the focus is on implementing EU Organic and Better Cotton standards at the production level. At the same time, producers and processors are supported in expanding their knowledge of additional certifications and requirements at the processing and export levels.Through dedicated due diligence trainings, companies and relevant stakeholders are better equipped to understand the background and added value of sustainability standards. These trainings also prepare them to meet the increasing expectations of international buyers, particularly those from the EU.
