Commodity Hub Ecuador

The Commodity Hub Ecuador promotes agroforestry systems and sustainable farming practices such as Buenas Prácticas Agrícolas (BPA) and organic certification, which contribute to improved soil fertility, productivity, integrated and biological pest management, and more efficient water use. These practices lead to increased yields and higher incomes for banana and cocoa producers. Moreover, certifications enable producers to meet European due diligence requirements and sustainability standards.To ensure transparency along the supply chain, the Commodity Hub supports producers in implementing traceability systems that verify compliance with market access requirements. In the long term, this contributes to increasing the overall share of sustainably produced banana and cocoa.
