SASI Lunchbreak on supply chain due diligence act part 5
Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI)
Dear friends of the Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains Initiative (SASI),
We hereby invite you to the 5th SASI Lunchbreak on April 4th, 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00 CET.
In this fifth event of our SASI Lunchbreak series, we will focus on the topic of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
Digitalization is crucial for sustainable development. In particular, agriculture is witnessing a growing trend towards digital processes. Digital solutions ensure the traceability of agricultural products, promote environmental and social standards, and ease producers' access to information. They reduce bureaucracy, enhance market transparency, and thereby increase efficiency and trust throughout the supply chain.
Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) forms the backbone of a connected, sustainable agricultural sector. It creates open, accessible, and secure digital systems that allow producers to benefit from standardized data formats and interoperable platforms. This not only fosters sustainable farming and trading practices but also lowers costs and enables fairer participation in the global market.
Collaboration is indispensable. Governments, NGOs, producers, and the private sector must collaborate to exchange knowledge and develop, recognize, and scale inclusive strategies and solutions. Against this backdrop, a consortium consisting of SAFE, DIASCA (GIZ), the Linux Foundation/AgStack, the World Resources Institute (WRI), FAO, COSA, CGIAR, and many other stakeholders is actively working on the development of prototypes for an integrated, open-source digital public infrastructure.
We are pleased to welcome the project Sustainable Agriculture for Forest Ecosystems (SAFE), led by GIZ as part of SASI, as well as the World Resources Institute (WRI). SAFE contributes to the successful implementation of the EU Regulation on Deforestation-Free Products (EUDR) by empowering smallholder farmers, creating incentives to reduce deforestation, and building local capacities for sustainable land use and agriculture. The World Resources Institute (WRI), a global research organization, co-founded the Forest Data Partnership and plays a central role in developing a consistent geospatial data ecosystem.
And this is what awaits you on Friday, 04 April 2025, from 12:00-13:00:

In our series of events, we will show that implementing due diligence is feasible for everyone. With our expertise, we want to actively support you in the implementation. On the one hand, we will present various practice-oriented tools and guidelines with a focus on the agricultural and food sector. On the other hand, we keep an eye on ongoing EU legislative processes and international discussions for you. It is also indispensable to take the perspective of the people and companies in the partner countries. We want to include them through our cooperation on the ground. The SASI Lunchbreak is a regular format offered online as a digital event on the first Friday of each month.
