DIASCA Forest Monitoring Webinar - Insights from Nigeria & WHISP Deep Dive

We are cordially inviting you to our next webinar on Thursday, July 3rd, from 2pm - 3:30pm (CEST) which will focus on deforestation risk assessments and the preparedness of relevant sectors in Nigeria.

In this webinar, our special guest Dr. Ralph Adewoye, a lead remote sensing scientist at the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, will present on the efforts undertaken by Nigerian stakeholders in the cocoa and palm oil sector to prepare for zero-deforestation compliance, considering the successes already achieved and the challenges still remaining.

Ralph’s presentation will be followed by a full demonstration of the deforestation risk assessment tool OpenForis Whisp. Many of you will have heard of or even used Whisp already, while the inner workings of the algorithm may have remained somewhat obscure. After some recent updates to the algorithm, we are excited to explain these inner workings and present both the visually intuitive Whisp Earthmap as well as the slightly more technical Whisp API, a powerful tool for analyzing deforestation risk of bulk geodata.

As usual, in the third half hour of the webinar, we give room for discussion to you, the participants, to exchange on tools, best practices and challenges, as well as your support needs.
