FORUM for Sustainable Palm Oil (FONAP)

FONAP is a multi-stakeholder partnership comprising companies, NGOs, and two German federal ministries. Member companies commit to sourcing only certified palm (kernel) oil as well as its fractions and derivatives. In addition, they regularly address further sustainability criteria—most notably biodiversity protection on oil palm plantations and the inclusion of smallholder farmers—in cooperation with their suppliers. Within the FONAP framework, companies also engage in regular dialogue with NGOs and representatives from producer countries. This exchange strengthens their understanding of social and environmental due diligence in supply chains and supports the joint development of solution-oriented strategies.
