Training on Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains (SASI Training)
The SASI Training takes you on an engaging journey into the world of agricultural supply chains that operate globally. Over the course of 4,5 training days, you will grasp concepts, enhance your practical competencies and broaden your professional network on sustainability in global agricultural supply chains. The training is provided and organized by the GIZ Sector Project on Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains (SV NA) which is part of the "Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains Initiative" (SASI).
Objectives of the training:
- understanding the interplay between public and private initiatives for effective supply chain sustainability governance
- providing an overview on recent developments with relevance for sustainable (agricultural) supply chains
- gaining deeper technical and practical insight into the focus topics Living Income & Wages, digital traceability and satellite monitoring, the German and European Due Diligence regulations incl. EUDR and CSDDD, as well as preventing deforestation.
- enhancing your understanding of GIZ’s role regarding agricultural supply chains in the context of international frameworks and regulations
- sharing and discussing approaches, tools and possible solutions for seizing opportunities and addressing challenges and trade-offs related to current policy developments in the EU
- increasing your competencies in identifying opportunities and needs, advising public or private partners and co-designing meaningful interventions in the field of global agricultural supply chains
- establishing and broadening a network within GIZ and learning from each other as a basis for creating more synergies and achieving greater impact in the field of global agricultural supply chains
This training is designed for:
- GIZ colleagues working in or preparing to work in projects and programmes with a focus on commodities that are exported to the European market
- GIZ colleagues and their public or private partners who are involved in activities related to German or European supply chain regulations – now or in the foreseeable future
- Partners operating in the context of global agricultural supply chains
- GIZ colleagues designing interventions in the field of global agricultural supply chains
- GIZ colleagues and partners seeking to connect within GIZ with regards to the topic of global agricultural supply chains
SASI Training has helped me and my team to gain a deeper understanding of European consumer market requirements and how to translate them in our work in agricultural supply chains. At the same time, we could establish a sound network within GIZ and know whom to approach with specific concerns about topics such as digital traceability or living income.
