DIASCA Forest Monitoring Webinar - Feedback Session on JRC Forest Maps - Option 2

Dear DIASCA Members,

We are pleased to invite you to an upcoming webinar on the 29th April from 9:00 to 10:00 AM CEST to gathering your feedback on the Joint Research Centre’s Global Forest Cover (GFC2020) and Global Forest Type (GFT2020) maps, produced to support the implementation of thee risk assessment under the EU deforestation-free supply chain regulation.
Webinar Overview:

• In the first part of the session, the JRC team will present the methodology and key features of both maps. You can access the recent publication here for more background information.

   

• The second part will focus on practical tools and guidance for reviewing the maps followed by a Q&A. This includes identifying potential mapping errors and spatial misalignments using satellite imagery. The review is structured in two phases: an initial regional overview, followed by a detailed examination of local patterns, with documented findings and coordinates recorded in a provided Excel template.

Following the webinar, experts will have 2–3 weeks to complete their assessments. We may also hold a follow-up session to share insights and discuss collective feedback.
