DIASCA Dialogue #3 - Preparing for EUDR: Guidelines for National Coffee Plot Databases

Dear Friends of DIASCA,

we are excited to bring you the third DIASCA Dialogue presented by the International Coffee Organisation.

We cordially invite you to join us on Thursday, July 16th, 1:30-2:30 pm CEST

On 16 July 2026, Ms Hannelore Beerlandt, Head of Operations at the International Coffee Organization (ICO), will participate in this DIASCA Dialogue to present the work being undertaken by the ICO through its Coffee Public-Private Task Force (CPPTF) to support coffee-producing countries in preparing for the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

A key focus of this work is the promotion and facilitation of National Databases of Unique Geo-references of Coffee Plots. The objective is to support the establishment of trusted national systems capable of securely storing geospatial data on coffee plots and enabling efficient data sharing with downstream supply chain actors to facilitate EUDR compliance.

To support this effort, the CPPTF will consolidate Voluntary Guidelines to assist governments and national and international multi-stakeholder processes the design, implementation, and operation of coffee plot databases. The Guidelines will address strategic and policy considerations, including the development of a national vision for coffee plot databases; the establishment of public-private governance and data management arrangements; interoperability with relevant datasets and systems; sustainable business models; and mechanisms to ensure data quality and accuracy. They will also explore how national databases can support public-private data initiatives. The Guidelines will build on existing guidance and tools while incorporating practical lessons learned from countries that are already developing and operating national coffee plot databases.

During this DIASCA Dialogue, participants will be invited to share their experiences and perspectives, which will help inform the consolidation of the Voluntary Guidelines.

Presented by Hannelore Beerlandt, ICO
